Keeping the Peace

I read a very interesting piece by Linda Teplin in the July, 2000 issue of the National Institute of Justice Journal. It's called "Keeping the Peace: Police Discretion and Mentally Ill Persons," and it takes a balanced view of police encounters of the mentally ill, deinstitutionalization of mental health services, cutbacks in Federal funds and changes in legal codes.
